StepGate in one paragraph

StepGate is an iPhone app that locks the apps you choose, like Instagram or TikTok, until you walk your daily step goal. It uses Apple's Screen Time framework to lock apps and reads steps from Apple Health and the iPhone's motion sensor, including Apple Watch steps recorded in Health. When you open a locked app you see how far you have left as a walk ("a 15-minute walk") and a single Go walk button. Hit your goal and every locked app opens for the rest of the day. Rest days, lock hours and 5 to 30 minute pauses keep the rule livable. There's no account, and StepGate can't see which apps you lock.
